Echoes of Mercy

In October , 2009 , Pastor Moses founded Echoes of Mercy to bring Christ to families in his home village of Kamuya.  Through the help of sponsors, a new church, mission house, medical center and Christian school have been constructed and two wells have been dug. These facilities have been constructed using local labor to keep cost down and give much needed income to the villagers. The idea, to empower these people to be self sufficient.

Several years ago the widows in the area village began meeting once a week with Pastor Walter. They formed a type of co-op where they contribute what money they can, pool their resources and developing micro-businesses. The group purchases chickens and goats, distributes them to the widows and they in turn donate back to the group offspring of these animals to distribute to other widows. Other types of businesses are being developed and training sought. Echoes of Mercy helps to support these widows. While we were there we purchased three goats for them.

The vision for Echoes of Mercy Christian School is to provide orphan children from the village with a quality education backed by Christian values. Many of the children are orphans. Parents have fallen victim to the AIDS virus. Children now live with others.  Families have little income to send the children to school or to even provide daily meals for them. The EOM school is free to the students unlike other schools  in the area. A meal is provided daily for the students, sometimes the only one they receive. There are over 150 children now attending this school and the numbers are rising daily.

Fruit of the Vine ministries along with Echoes of Mercy has established a sponsorship program to help meet the needs of the children. The small amount of $25 per month will offset the cost of providing for a child. It is our promise that at least $23 of this will go directly to Echoes of Mercy for the support of a child. The other $2 will be used for transfer fees .  FOV has committed to finding sponsors for at least 20 of the children this year.

Take a minute to pray for the children.  If the Lord pulls on your heart, choose the child you want to help and contact Fruit of the Vine for a sponsorship form.  You can now make  on line donations via paypal or mail checks to  FOV Ministries.  Checks should be made to Fruit of the Vine with EOM child # in the memo line.
